Everyday tennis enthusiasts are getting the possibility to claim A$1m when they compete against tennis' top professionals - featuring world number one the Spanish champion - in a one-point battle before the year's first major

Event planners of the year's first Grand Slam have unveiled the Seven-Figure Quick-Fire Competition, which will pair a dozen non-professionals against 22 professionals in a knockout tournament at the tournament grounds

This Innovative Competition Operates

Competitors are set to play 'rock, paper, scissors' to establish who serves or receives, and whoever wins the point will progress to the subsequent phase

The victor of the event will earn a significant cash prize

Contextually, players who advanced to the final four of the primary tournaments in the last edition won over a million Australian dollars

The New York major organized a revamped, independent mixed doubles tournament in the eighth month which encouraged top singles players to take part, with the victors receiving a million-dollar prize

The year's first major held its inaugural One Point Slam in the current season, but the cash prize was a smaller amount and it had limited exposure

One top competitor was the only top-10 player involved, and his campaign concluded when he sent the one and only serve allowed into the mesh in his quarter-final

Officials have not said exactly how the event will work, but it is projected to emulate a comparable structure to this year's edition

The elite players will be granted to have a single serve and the amateurs on two occasions - as is the norm in traditional tennis

While it is unclear how the draw will work, there will be several competitive phases and the venue will be the main stadium rather than the smaller Kia Arena

The last matches will occur in a nighttime schedule instead of 1pm local time

Entry Information

Local players - or foreign participants who have registered with the governing body - can enter 'single-point competition' competitions at their local tennis clubs

The winners of the local competitions will then go into a random pairing, with one amateur player from every region and area selected to take part in the 'final competition' in a evening match on the specified date

There will also be a entry tournament in the final month which non-professionals, developing professionals, celebrities and athletic celebrities can participate in

It starts on Monday, 12 January and the two winners will advance to the following day's 'grand finale' with the additional everyday players and top-ranked athletes

"Whether you're an amateur or a pro, the final champion will receive the prize. Registrations will open soon at facilities nationwide"

Event organizers stated there were "additional stars to be unveiled imminently", while the official website said "famous personalities" would be involved
