Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was understandable for questions to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Failings and Player Response

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
