Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died aged 60.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles on Monday following cancer treatment from 2022 onward, per reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family shared in a message.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive Television Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.
He starred as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
Throughout the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of well-known programs, including:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
Beyond the Screen
Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
In a tribute, peer Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted publicly.
The actor is remembered by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
