A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since March of that year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
